Current technology has permitted proportioning more lasting and natural results. It can be combined with other techniques like Lipofilling (autocollagen), Resurfacing Laser, Botox or Dysport, wrinkles filling, pulsed light, etc. The recovery takes from 1 to 2 days and there no necessity of surgery. The durability is obviously shorter than with surgery.

NON-SURGICAL CHOICES

MICROCRYSTAL PEELING

Produces good results on the treatments of peeling, stretch marks, thin and medium-sized wrinkles, spots, acne and its sequels, and also on scars.

Being a soft process, with no pain or trouble, it is recommendable to implement a series of six to ten sessions every ten or 15 days, depending on the pathology, area to treat, and the patient’s type of skin.

Utilizes microcrystals of sterilized Aluminum Hydroxide (derived from the Korundum- gross diamond), cut in a hexagonal shape, to scrap the skin. It simultaneously produces a moderate suction of dermal tissue, which will stimulate later the collagen formation (as in the use of endermologie).

Does not have secondary effects. The patients can reintegrate to their normal social and labor life after every session.

In the United States this treatment is known as the “lunchtime peel”, since is can be done during lunch time and the patient can go back to work normally. The device is called ULTRAPEEL.

PHOTOREJUVENATION USING PULSED LIGHT

The cutaneous ageing process is not just caused by the pass of the years, but also for damage produced by the solar light. This ageing translates into changes on the cutaneous structure (multiple thin wrinkles, opaque and rough skin, dilated pores), pigment abnormalities (spots increase due to ageing or solar light), and hair problems (telangiectasia, broken or dilated hairs, rosacea, etc.). Nowadays ageing is reverted with IPL technology.

EPIFACIAL method is an integral treatment for cutaneous ageing by using Intense Pulsed Light. The light is transmitted through a small crystal, of soft surfaces, that is placed on the skin’s surface. The light penetrates to the papillary dermis stimulating the blood flow and the formation of collage, to recover a firmer and terse skin.

LASER PEELING

This technology, that uses the newest lasers, has been created for busy people with strong willing to improve their esthetical aspect.

This treatment is not as expensive as Resurfacing Laser, which would be done with general anesthesia and include a one-week crust, or as the traditional Lifting in which the patient stays marginalized from 7 to 15 days without being able to reintegrate to social or labor activity. The most important is that these traditional treatments are much more expensive.

It is important that the patient understands that this laser system stimulates the formation and production of collagen and that from the ninth day it starts taking effect, reaching the best possible results after approximately 90 days. Also, needs to be said that it requires more than one session depending on the medical test.

RUSSIAN SUTENTATION THREADS

It is a polypropylene not absorbable thread, biocompatible and of big resistance.

Who are candidates?
People from 30 to 50 years old, patients already subjected to a previous facial surgery and who need a light refreshing, people that can not be subjected to a general anaesthesia due to sicknesses, diabetics and third age people.

How do they work?
The Russian threads have fine claws in a double direction, similar to hooks. When they pull the tissues to the direction considered by the plastic surgeon, they anchor setting a new a position for the soft parts of the face that had descended along time. This action is strengthened due to the fact that these threads are isolated by the organism that creates a protecting wrapper around them that works as a pseudoligament sustentation.

When is not indicated?
For extreme cases with important cutaneous and muscular flaccidity the results do not reach the expectations and the surgery is the best.

How long does the process last and which anaesthesia does it utilize?
The duration is variable, from 15 to 45 minutes. The anaesthesia utilized is local, and if the patient is very nervous can also be sedated. It is of routine to talk to the patient while the process is executed.

How long do the results last?
From 12 to 24 months, depending on the age and ageing of the patient.

LIFTING WITHOUT SURGERY

The face’s soft tissues’ flaccidity startsat 30 or 35 years old. It is when the estrogen levels descend and the metabolism becomes slower; sugar is accumulated in the tissues, producing the Glycolization, the hardening of collagen fibers reducing its support function to the structures.

The process is realized under local anesthesia, with no hospitalization. Cuts, scars, or stitches to be retired are not needed.

It is a modern alternative for those patients who do not want to be subjected to a conventional surgery (Lifting).

Another alternative is the ThermaCool, a process which uses the radiofrequency instead of the conventional scalpel. A cream with anesthesia is applied on the zone on treatment and little electric shocks are shot. These generate heat when penetrating the skin, heating hairs, which stimulates the formation of collagen and elastin. This treatment disturbs very little due to the heat produced; takes from one to two hours, and after that daily life can be resumed.

The results are more subtle than the ones from lifting, and they are visualized three months after the applications. Generally, the treatment consists of 4 to 6 sessions, with intervals of 15 to 21 days. The stimulated collagen refills the wrinkles and tenses the skin. The durability of the mentioned result is still unknown, but it is estimated to last from 18 to 24 months.
